There are white papers on SOA (Federation, Standards, Shared Service Models, Collaboration, etc.) from OASIS, Open Group, OMB, Federal CIO Council, etc. that we should look at first before writing yet another one.

Martin, Thank you and per my comments yesterday:

Martin, Essentially my concern is that when NATO tries to federated all of those SOA services with an ESB it will find that it needs Apache Hadoop to really federate the data associated with all of those SOA services. Apache Hadoop is essentially a new data operating system instead of an piece of middleware like a SOA ESB or Federation of SOAs ESB. Brand

Martin, I like this proposal and hope this new NCOIC Federated SOA activity can come up with a “new pattern for NCOIC Voice of Industry collaboration” like I was describing we do in the US Federal SOA CoP so each member can see a business and technical role they can play in demonstrations like for the NGIA, FAA, etc. See: http://semanticommunity.info/Federal_SOA/13th_SOA_for_E-Government_Conference_April_3_2012

I also suggest coordination and involvement of standards groups like OMG that is working on this: http://www.omgwiki.org/architecture-ecosystem/doku.php?id=semantic_information_modeling_for_federation_rfp

I am copying Cory Casanave on this since he is the OMG lead.
